ISSNAF Annual Event celebrates its mission to promote scientific, academic, and technological cooperation amongst Italian researchers and scholars active in North America, strengthening the network and focusing in particular on the work of young investigators, whose commitment to their discipline of study is innovative, impactful, and honors their country of origin.
President of the Italian Republicand the auspices of the Italian Embassy in Washington D.C., in cooperation with EXPO 2015 Scientific Committee, City of Milan, the ISSNAF Annual Event held Oct 27th and 28th at the Embassy of Italy was a unique occasion of networking and discussion among the Italian diaspora in North America and influential American and Italian scientists, businessmen and entrepreneurs, intellectuals, and diplomats.
This year, as a result of the agreement signed by ISSNAF and the Scientific Committee of EXPO 2015, City of Milan, the first day of works will be dedicated to an inspirational discussion on Scientific Challenges in Nutrition and Sustainability held by prominent speakers from different fields of research. At the end of the first day of the event an outstanding individual of Italian origin who, thanks to his/her pioneering spirit and lifetime commitment, has honored Italy and given a significant contribution to international research will be honored with the ISSNAF Lifetime Achievement Award. This year’s awardee was renowned mathematician Professor Enrico Bombieri, in recognition of his revolutionary research in number theory, algebraic geometry, and mathematical analysis.
Day 2 will focus on the work of brilliant Italian investigators under 40, whose higher education and professional career are at the core of ISSNAF’s efforts. Their contribution will be acknowledged by presenting their best projects and selecting the winners of the 2015 ISSNAF Awards for Young Investigators in 5 different disciplines. H.E. Italian Ambassador to the U.S.A. Claudio Bisogniero handed out the Awards to the winners and concluded the session.
During the second day we held an interesting discussion on ISSNAF Chapters Action Plan for 2016 with the participation of ISSNAF Chapters, moderated by the Scientific Attaches of the Italian Embassy.
