ISSNAF AWARDS

Purpose

To acknowledge the research of young Italian investigators working in North America, whose commitment to their discipline of study is innovative, potentially impactful and honors their country of origin.

Winners receive a $5,000 prize and, since 2012, are honored with the Medaglia di Rappresentanza del Presidente della Repubblica Italiana.

Nomination Process

Before the Summer, a Review Board composed of senior ISSNAF members selects amongst all submitted abstracts the finalist research summaries to be presented during the Fall event in oral sessions or posters and to be published on the ISSNAF web site.

Awards are presented in the Fall, in a location of institutional or academic relevance.

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

ISSNAF encourages all Italian researchers born after April 1973 and currently primarily working in the United States or Canada to submit an abstract of their research.

FINALISTS

ISSNAF Review Board will review all valid applications during the month of May. Finalists will present their research in oral or poster presentations in the Fall.

ISSNAF JURY

During the summer, a prestigious Jury will be appointed ad-hoc to select the winners from presentations on October 29th.

CEREMONY

The Awards will be presented during a formal ceremony on October 29th, at the Italian Embassy in Washington, DC.

2012 ISSNAF AWARD LAUREATE ISSNAF AWARD LAUREATE

Jole Fiorito (Columbia University) received the 2012 ISSNAF Award for Young Investigators for the research entitled "Alzheimer’s Disease: the Discovery of a Novel Phosphodiesterase 5 Inhibitor for its cure".

Iole Fiorito had the honor of receiving the "Medaglia di Rappresentanza del Presidente della Repubblica Italiana".

2012 PAOLA CAMPESE LAUREATE PAOLA CAMPESE AWARD LAUREATE

Alessia Baccarini (Mount Sinai School of Medicine) received the 2012 Paola Campese Award for Research on Leukemias for the research entitled "Generation of the first microRNA sensor and decoy libraries provide broad insights into microRNA regulation and functions".

Alessia Baccarini had the honor of receiving the "Medaglia di Rappresentanza del Presidente della Repubblica Italiana".
