ISSNAF - THALES ALENIA SPACE FELLOWSHIP FINAL REPORT

Antonietta Marino, is an Italian researcher at INAF, Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova.

In 2008 she was the recipient of the first ISSNAF Fellowship sponsored by Thales Alenia Space with her research project "Evolutions of Galaxies in Groups: a Multi-wavelenght Approach".

The project was carried out in 2008-2010 under the supervision of Prof. Luciana Bianchi, head of the "Dolomiti" research group at the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the Johns Hopkins University.

The Final Report is now available, together with the First Year Report published at the end of 2009.

ISSNAF -THALES ALENIA SPACE FELLOWSHIP 2008-2010 REPORT

A Report of Antonietta Marino, the Italian researcher at INAF, Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova, and the recipient of the first ISSNAF Fellowship sponsored by Thales Alenia Space, documents the development of her research project - "Evolutions of Galaxies in Groups: a Multi-wavelenght Approach" - under the supervision of Prof. Luciana Bianchi, at the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the Johns Hopkins University.

MAY 2008: THE FIRST ISSNAF FELLOWSHIP WAS AWARDED: DETAILS OF THE WINNING PROJECT

The committee for assignement of the first Issnaf Fellowship awarded dr. Antonina Marino from INAF - Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova with the Issnaf Fellowship in Space Physics & Engineering sponsored by Thales Alenia Space.

After evaluation of the eight (8) applications received the committee for assigment of the Issnaf Fellowship, composed by

  • prof. Roberto Peccei (Chairman),
  • prof. Giorgio Bellettini,
  • prof. Riccardo Giacconi,
  • prof. Duccio Macchetto and
  • dr. Luciano Saccani,

selected dr Marino's project as the winner.

Dr. Antonina Marino's project by the title "Evolution of galaxies in groups: a multi-wavelenght approach" will be carried out at the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

The fellowship is for an italian student/scientist working in the field of space physics and engineering (astronomy, astrophysics, aeronautics and related).The fellowship is for TWO (2) years and is sponsored by Thales Alenia Space Italia S.p.A.

  • Wage will be of 50,000 USD/year plus fringe benefits and lab support.
  • Application deadline: midnight of April 15th, 2008
  • Decision of committee and winner notification: May 15th, 2008
  • Start date: Sept 1st, 2008
