H2CU, HIGHLIGHTS IN NEW YORK, May 17th 2013

On the occasion of "2013 Year of Italian Culture in the USA", ISSNAF is supporting an event called "H2CU Highlights in New York" presented by the Honors Center of Italian Universities (H2CU) at the Italian Institute of Culture in New York, on the 17th of May 2013.

H2CU is presenting a series of events - meetings and conferences - that will show the results of the ten years of its activity in the US while outlining the strategy for future collaborations.

The joint commission between ASI and ISSNAF declared winners of the internships Federica Polverari (Department of Electronic Engineering, Universita' La Sapienza di Roma) and Marco Dolci (Space Engineering, Politecnico di Milano).

Meeting with the Italian Ambassador in Miami, May 9th

On the occasion of the visit to Miami of His Excellency Claudio Bisogniero, Ambassador of Italy to the United States, ISSNAF Florida Chapter organized a roundtable discussion to the introduce the professional group to the local scientific community and to promote its activities in Miami and all around Florida.

Scholarship Opportunities for Engineers born after 1978

Consiglio Nazionale degli Ingegneri, in collaboration with ISSNAF, just announced a contest for the assignment of 9 scholarship opportunities reserved to the engineers enrolled in the Italian professional roster who were born after 1978. The announcement will be fully presented in Cernobbio on April 30th during the conference about the training opportunities of Italian engineers.

2013 ISSNAF AWARDS
ISSNAFlogoblueFor the third year in a row, ISSNAF Board of Trustees is promoting three awards to stimulate not only a greater general awareness of younger researchers' work, but would also motivate young scholars and scientists with talent. For 2013 the awards are, the ISSNAF Award for Young Investigators, the Paola Campese Award for Research on Leukemias and the new Franco Strazzabosco Award for Young Engineers. All Italian researchers born after April 1973 and currently primarily working in the United States or Canada are invited to apply.
Deadline: April 21, 2013.

Italian MoH Grants 2011/12

minsalute f2The Italian Ministry of Health opened a new call for application for the "Bando per la ricerca finalizzata 2011-12" funding over Eur130Mio. As in the previous years, a specific provision is made for "Progetti Esteri", presented by Italian researchers in collaboration with Italian colleagues working abroad.

ALERT! Italian Ministry of Health Grants

By the end of November the Italian Ministry of Health will open a new call for application for the "Bando per la ricerca finalizzata 2011-12" funding over Eur130Mio. Stem cells tranplantation explained by Damiano Rondelli

sickle cells_diseaseDr. Damiano Rondelli, ISSNAF Chicago Chapter Chair, who performed a stem cells transplantation in sickle cell anemia explains on issnaf.org the new procedure.

 

Sickle cell anemia is a genetic disorder that causes a defect in the hemoglobin inside the blood red cells. This means that the red cells are less flexible and can easily acquire the shape of a sickle and obstruct small blood vessels.

George Bugliarello

George BugliarelloGeorge Bugliarello, one of ISSNAF founders, recently passed away.

 

He was President Emeritus and Institute Professor at Polytechnic Institute of New York University.

 

It is a great loss for the academic community and for all who loved him.

 

A memorial will take place on April 27th, 10.00am, at “Dibner Library, Pfizer Auditorium”, 5 Metrotech Center, Brooklin, NY 11201. The President of ISSNAF and its members express their heartfelt condolences to his family.
