These two brilliant young researchers tell us about their personal experience
and their motivation to activate Young ISSNAF – Young Investigators Network

1.Why do you think young investigators need to have a network?

Stefania: Career growth is so unpredictable, the more people you know, the more opportunities you have for success and the more possibilities you have for growth.

My current situation resulted from networking. The connection between one Italian professor and my current mentor, Dr. Ronald Hayes, brought me in USA. Young ISSNAF will offer the same possibilities for many young investigators who see the USA as place where they can “get into the game and reinvent themselves”.

ISSNAF and Young ISSNAF in particular will offer possibilities to be part of this networking structure. This strong networking infrastructure will allow participants to share common interest and skills, enhance information and knowledge and growth together as professions and individuals.

2. What is Young-ISSNAF going to offer?

Chiara: Young-ISSNAF has several levels of services and interactions. First, it will offer a sort of platform for young investigators in North America to share professional and scientific experiences; second, thanks to the precious availability of the senior members, Young-ISSNAF is going to develop a mentorship program to guide young scientist in career development.

Moreover, the content of the webpage of Young-ISSNAF will be continuously updated with information regarding grants, bursaries and professional opportunities for young investigators both in Italy and abroad.

Hopefully, the network will be fully functional during summer. Whoever has suggestions, ideas and wants to participate in Young-ISSNAF is very welcome to contact us at this address: young@issnaf.org.
