Transfer of cholesteryl ester mass between lipoproteins |
|
Researchers have found new evidence to explain how cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) mediates the transfer of cholesterol from "good" high density lipoproteins (HDLs) to "bad" low density lipoproteins (LDLs). An italian researcher, Giorgio Cavigiolio, took part to the research.

The Marie Curie Research Training Network FLiACT will start on the 1st of January 2012 and will run for four years, supported by the European Commission. This initiative will host 12 Ph.D. students. The FLiACT fellows will seek to elucidate how neural circuit computation directs stereotypical behaviours and how circuit-function relationships are genetically encoded.

Researchers at the Salk Institute have discovered that a combination of genes direct nerves to to make the proper connections with their target muscles during early development. The findings, pubblished in Cells, may help scientists develop new therapies for neuorological disorders. An italian researcher, Dario Bonanomi, is the article's first author.
