The Large Binocular Telescope (LBT) achieves "a new level of image sharpness never before seen."

Simone Esposito, leader of the INAF team, began testing the First Light Adaptive Optics system (FLAO) in "closed-dome" on May 12, and, since May 25, with sky tests every night, achieving astronomical image clarity never before seen -- LBT is three times, soon to be ten, sharper than Hubble!

The LBT is an international collaboration among United States, Italy and Germany. True to the Galilean legacy, INAF and Arcetri Observatory have played a major role in the LBT Project and so did a number of Italian companies  --  names may be misleading here, but Microgate, ADS International, The European Industrial Engineering (E.I.E.) are in fact Italian companies.
