Premio Selezione Istituto Italiano di Cultura New York 2011 - First Edition

A competition for Italian young artists to promote Italian contemporary artists launched by the IIC of NY. Two winners among the eligible applicants will benefit from two month full immersion into NY international art scene. Their works will be showcased at the premises of the Italian Cultural Institute and a number of anthological works will be published in an Italian/English catalogue. “Days of Fear” by Daniele Mastrogiacomo - Thursday, 29 April 2010 - New York

Federico Rampini, Italian journalist and writer, will join Mastrogiacomo for a discussion on the new relations between Italy, Europe, the US and the world in the aftermath of September 11.

In 2004, Cinzia Cuneo founded Sukha Technologies and SOSCuisine.com – a breakthrough Meal & Grocery Planning service, that matches the users' personal preferences to the local availability of fresh products and supermarket specials. The service is being further developed to address the needs of people with medical conditions influenced by food, such as diabetes, heart condition and others.

For the period 2009/2010 Claudia Padovani is  a Media@McGill visiting research fellow working on the  Global Media Policy Mapping project.  Her research  focuses on transnational governance networks on communication and communication rights. Padovani is the Italian co-coordinator for the IV edition of the international Global Media Monitoring Project (GMMP) on gender representation in the news, promoted by the World Association for Christian Communication (WACC). Giulianotti_uic_medicalPier Cristoforo Giulianotti, Lloyd Nyhus Professor of Surgery at UIC and UIC Chief of the Division of General, Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery, will deliver a lecture on the latest advances in robotic surgery. Professor Giulianotti, a pioneer in robotic techniques, has already performed over 2100 minimally invasive surgeries, 914 of them with robotic procedures.
