Every year, ISSNAF celebrates the achievements of outstanding Italian researchers in North America at the ISSNAF Annual by presenting the following awards:

ISSNAF also co-sponsors awards with other organizations

ISSNAF celebrate the Italian Diaspora via its social media

Chapters give visibility to the outstanding talents and expertise by facilitating their engagement at local events

YOUNG INVESTIGATOR AWARDS

ISSNAF - Italian Scientists and Scholars in North America Foundation - annually awards the Young Investigator Awards in various disciplines to outstanding, early-career Italian researchers working in the United States or Canada, in recognition of their significant and innovative contributions to their field of research. The Young Investigator Awards are named in recognition of their generous sponsors and they are administered by the ISSNAF Scientific Council.

ISSNAF is very pleased to announce the Young Investigator Awards 2020 and grateful to their sponsors for their generosity:

  • Embassy of Italy Award to Honor Young Italian Researchers for Research to Fight Covid-19

  • Franco Strazzabosco Award for Research in Engineering

  • Mario Gerla Award for Research in Computer Science

  • Paola Campese Award for Research in Leukemia

 

Winners will receive the Award Winner Certificate and  a monetary prize of $3,000.

Finalists will receive the Award Finalist Certificate.

 

Applications will be evaluated considering the applicant’s curriculum, the quality of their research accomplishments, and their personal contributions to the research. Three finalists for each Award will be invited to present their research at the ISSNAF Annual Meeting in the fall of 2020. A Jury will select the winner. Applicants will be notified of the outcome by October 15, 2020.

The Call for Application is now open and will close on June 30th, 2020. 

Eligibility requirements

  1. Italian citizenship

  2. Current affiliation with a research institution in the United States or Canada

  3. PhD received, or Medical Residency completed, not earlier than January 1, 2013 and not later than December 31, 2018

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

The ISSNAF Lifetime Achievement Award acknowledges outstanding individuals of Italian origin who, thanks to their pioneering spirit and lifetime commitment, have honored their country of origin and given a significant contribution to research, leadership, and mentorship in any field.

ISSNAF collaborates with other institutions in celebrating Italian talents in all disciplines.  ISSNAF manages the award process.

  • Leonardo 500, Award sponsored by the Leonardo da Vinci Society in the Bay Area in cooperation with the ISSNAF Bay Area Chapter

  • Intesa Sanpaolo Award for Innovation & Circular Economy Award in 2017,  managed by the ISSNAF Open Innovation and Entrepreneurship Chapter
