Exploring language acquisition, cognitive science and human vs animal communication
In this conversation with Prof. Martin Monti from UCLA, Prof. Massimo Piattelli-Palmarini explores human language acquisition, the biological and cognitive foundations of language, and the limitations of artificial intelligence in understanding it. This discussion also contrasts human linguistic abilities with animal communication. It builds on the field of biolinguistics, which was initiated in 1974 by Piattelli-Palmarini and Noam Chomsky at MIT and has since evolved significantly with numerous experiments, publications, and conferences. The webinar provides an accessible overview of these developments in this still-expanding field. Watch the video here.
