Secretary
COSTANZA CONTI
Costanza Conti holds a degree in Mathematics from the University of Florence and a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Naples “Federico II,” followed by research periods in France, Germany, and Israel. An Associate Professor at the University of Florence, she contributed to the Teaching Committee for Mathematics and Computer Engineering and served as Internationalization Coordinator within the Department of Industrial Engineering. Her work includes research and academic service in several countries, leadership roles in international networks such as IMACS, RITA, and UMI-TAA, and over 100 publications in Approximation Theory, Numerical Analysis, and Mathematical Modeling. Since January 2023, she has served as Science Attachée at the Embassy of Italy in Canada, where she also co-founded the Canadian Chapter of the “Women in Science Diplomacy” association

SILVIA POZZI
Assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Neuroscience at Université Laval (Québec, Canada), researcher at the CERVO Brain Research Centre, and Canada Research Chair in Central and Peripheral Cellular Networks in ALS. She holds an MSc in Medical Biotechnology from the University of Milano-Bicocca and a PhD in Life and Biomolecular Sciences from the Open University of London (UK), completed in collaboration with the “Mario Negri” Institute for Pharmacological Research (Milan, Italy). She subsequently pursued postdoctoral training in Cellular and Molecular Sciences at Université Laval and later served as a research associate at the CERVO Brain Research Centre in Québec City.

Communication coordinator
GIADA SEBASTIANI
Born and trained in Italy, Giada Sebastiani, MD FAASLD, is a leading Canadian hepatologist and Full Professor of Medicine at McGill University. She has built major multinational cohorts, advanced non-invasive diagnostics, and contributed to national and international guidelines on steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Her work has reshaped understanding of liver disease in people with HIV, diabetes, and inflammatory bowel disease, informing new standards of care. Dr. Sebastiani ranks among the top 2% of 6.8 million scientists worldwide (Stanford University METRICS c-score) and is the 2025 recipient of the Ingegno Italiano Award from the Italian Embassy in Canada. A sought-after speaker, she has delivered invited lectures in 17 countries and mentored 45 trainees across four continents, many now leading their own programs. A committed mentor and champion for women in science, she promotes equity, representation, and patient-centered research, and works through advocacy and policy engagement to advance early liver disease detection and improve care for at-risk populations.

Co-Chair
MARTA GABRIELE
PhD Candidate in Ecotoxicology at Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT) and Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). Her research focuses on reconstructing historical aquatic communities through sedimentary environmental DNA (sedDNA) and on assessing the spatial distribution of trace elements, technology-critical elements, and rare earth elements in boreal lakes affected by mining activities. She holds a Master’s degree in Marine Biology from the University of Pisa.
