Transatlantic collaboration: "The Italian Factor at Fermilab in conversation with Paul Grannis".
The enduring collaboration between Italian and North American nuclear physicists has profoundly shaped Fermilab's scientific and cultural landscape. Giorgio Bellettini reflects on a career that began in the 1960s and bridged two continents, marked by pivotal collaborations such as the CDF experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron, which saw over 100 Italian scientists contribute to major discoveries. His ongoing partnership with American colleagues led to significant scientific breakthroughs. Following the conclusion of the CDF project, INFN continues to play a crucial role in new world-class experiments at Fermilab, particularly in neutrino physics—a field where Italian contributions have been vital. Bellettini’s legacy also includes founding the Cultural Association of Italians at Fermilab, which supports Italian students in the US and promotes Italian language and culture.
Prof. Bellettini is an ISSNAF Founder.
