Mentoring Program for Students

2025

What were your expectations for the Mentoring Program?

When I first heard about Issnaf's Mentoring Program I was very fascinated about the idea of

being able to connect with a network of Italian researchers in North America. I really hoped

that the program would grant me the opportunity to gain a deeper insight over the complex

world of research, life and academia in a deeply competitive and demanding enviroment

How did this experience impact you?

My mentorship with professor Marco G. Giometto has really had a profound impact on my

professional life, providing me with an invaluable insight into the various stages of

developement in a scientific career both in Europe and in the US. His testimony has helped

me understand the ooportunity and challenges of pursuing my studies abroad. Moreover,

professor Giometto has also given me the invaluable of developing the course of my master's

studies in the framework of Columbia University, being hosted as a visiting students in the

professor's Enviromental Flow Physics Lab group for my thesis in Atmospherical Physics.

Most importantly, from this Fall's semester, I will be joining the group as a ph.D. candidate,

with professor Giometto as my advisor

Why would you recommend the ISSNAF Mentoring Program?

I would greatly recommend ISSNAF Mentoring program because of the possibility of gaining

a precious insight on the academic world in North America through the eyes of accomplished

researchers and professionals. Their experienced advice, combined with the opportunity that

might arise from it, is a rare opportunity for better understanding the next steps of your

professional path.
