Mentoring Program for Early Career Members

2025

What were your expectations for the Mentoring Program?

As a medical doctor who completed both medical school and residency training in Italy, I joined the ISSNAF Mentoring Program hoping to find a talented mentor with a similar background who could help me better understand the possible career pathways for international medical doctors.

How did this experience impact you?

This experience, under the guidance of Dr. Pinciroli, was an absolutely wonderful opportunity! It gave me the chance to meet a great person (as well as his family), who has also become a friend - for which I am grateful. From a career perspective, Dr. Pinciroli is an outstanding mentor and his mentorship helped me better understand how an international medical graduate can navigate the US medical system. Our conversations are still ongoing, including with his wife Sara, who is also a brilliant physician. Discussing their paths and current careers has been fascinating and has helped me realize that I want to pursue the opportunity to practice as a clinician in the United States. Overall, the experience has been extremely rewarding.

Why would you recommend the ISSNAF Mentoring Program?

I would strongly recommend the ISSNAF Mentoring Program because it allows young trainees to meet mentors with similar career pathways and build long-lasting relationships that can shape their career perspectives. These mentors have often faced similar challenges and truly understand what you are going through. I couldn’t be happier to have met Dr. Pinciroli and his lovely family – my family and I still get together with them regularly. As a bonus, he is also an excellent cook
