Mentoring Program for Students

What were your expectations for the Mentorship Program?
I saw this program as a way to accelerate my growth. I wanted to connect with my mentor for guidance on my projects, meet other Italians in the community, and get advice on studying in the US. I also hoped to build a strong foundation for my career in synthetic biology by collaborating with American institutions and learning more about research opportunities. Most of all, I wanted to increase my impact by improving my skills and understanding what I can do better.
How did theMentorship Program impact you?
I was fortunate to be matched with Simone Bianco, a fellow hometown native who has become one of my most cherished mentors. Simone's thoughtful advice and steadfast support encouraged me through many challenges as I explored diverse scientific programs like the Amgen Scholars Program, where I researched brain organoids and image analysis. Our conversations illuminated new perspectives on my dream career in synthetic biology, merging his invaluable experience with my burgeoning excitement.
Would you recommend the ISSNAF Mentorship Program?
The mentorship program has been an invaluable part of my undergraduate experience, providing guidance during the most formative years of my scientific journey. Without Simone's mentorship fueling my passion and motivation, I sincerely doubt I would feel as dedicated and eager to succeed in science.
