Mentoring Program for Students

2026

What were your expectations for the Mentoring Program?

I joined the program hoping to gain an external perspective on my scientific career and to connect with an established Italian researcher who had built his career in North America. I was particularly interested in understanding how to make the most of my training abroad while keeping open the possibility of returning to Italy in the future.

How did this experience impact you?

Through my conversation with Prof. Ruella, I gained a clearer perspective on how to shape my resume and make career choices that could strengthen my profile for future opportunities in Italy. His experience across different academic environments helped me think more strategically about my next steps and about how to make my time in Boston valuable for my long-term career.

Why would you recommend the ISSNAF Mentoring Program?

Because it offers young researchers the opportunity to connect directly with established Italian professionals in North America and to receive guidance informed by first-hand experience. It is particularly valuable for those trying to navigate career opportunities across different countries and academic systems while building a strong international network.
