What were your expectations for the Mentoring Program?
When I applied for the Young ISSNAF Mentoring Program for Students, I expected to connect with a successful Italian scientist who could guide me through the North American research and professional landscape. As a statistics graduate beginning my master’s degree, I was excited to explore international academic opportunities and learn from a leading statistician who knows the ins and outs of both the American and Italian research environment.
How did this experience impact you?
As my first mentoring experience, this program proved to be extremely impactful both academically and personally. Through enriching conversations with my mentor, Prof. Giovanni Parmigiani, I navigated academic paths in the United States, gained valuable insights about international research in statistics, set smart, measurable goals, and discussed what it truly means to work with data in an increasingly data-driven world. This mentorship exceeded my expectations, leaving a lasting mark on my trajectory in statistics and data science.
Why would you recommend the ISSNAF Mentoring Program?
The ISSNAF Mentoring Program successfully bridged my aspirations as a student with the experience of a top-tier professor. I would highly recommend this program to any Italian student seeking guidance from an accomplished expert in their field and looking forward to connecting with the vibrant community of Italian scientists in North America. I am beyond grateful to Prof. Parmigiani and ISSNAF for this wonderful opportunity!
