Roberto Menta
Master Student at Università di Pisa (Theoretical Physics)

Host:
Prof. Roberto Car, Princeton
Mobility Program
2024
What was the focus of your work or research during the mobility program?
This experience enabled me to develop new knowledge in an area far from my usual studies: molecular dynamics and statistical physics. The project I worked on with Dr. Pablo Piaggi and Professors Pablo Debenedetti and Roberto Car (host professor) turned out to be so interesting that I continued working on it even after returning to Italy.
How did this experience contribute to your academic and professional development?
My affiliation with Princeton was extended for another year. By the end of 2024, we expect to submit a scientific article to the Journal of Chemical Physics on the study of the phase diagram of H₂O₂ molecules and their potential "chiral symmetry breaking."
Did this experience influence your career plans?
My experience in North America at Princeton University allowed me to be immersed in a highly professional and academically prestigious environment. I had the opportunity to discover a different reality and live the "American dream" for a few months. At the same time, it was quite challenging for me to organize my entire stay independently, with the support of the host university. Additionally, it was very rewarding to collaborate with researchers in the field at the university’s Department of Chemistry and Physics.
