Idaho, Québec and Physicians and Surgeons: ISSNAF Expands with Three New Chapters

In 2025, ISSNAF continued to strengthen and expand its network of Italian researchers and professionals across North America. The organization grew to 12 regional chapters with the creation of the Idaho Chapter and the Québec Chapter, and welcomed its 13th chapter, a new thematic initiative: the Physicians & Surgeons (PHS) Chapter. These additions mark an important milestone in ISSNAF’s mission to foster connection, collaboration, and community among Italians in the United States and Canada.

Idaho Chapter

The Idaho Chapter was established thanks to the vision and commitment of Daniele Tonina (Chapter Chair) and Katia Guerra (Co-Chair), with the important support of Sergio Strozzi, then Consul General of Italy in San Francisco. Their leadership is laying the groundwork for a vibrant ISSNAF community in the region.

The chapter held its first official meeting in November 2025, supported by Ron Gambassi, Honorary Consul of Italy in Boise, and attended by Massimo Carnelos, Consul General of Italy in San Francisco. This inaugural event also created a meaningful bridge with the Italian Club of Boise, active since the 1970s, connecting ISSNAF with longstanding members of the local Italian community.

Québec Chapter

The Québec Chapter came to life through the dedication of Costanza Conti, Scientific Attaché at the Embassy of Italy to Canada and Chapter Secretary, along with the leadership of Federico Galli (Chair) and Marta Gabriele (Co-Chair). Together with Executive Committee members Damiano Pasini, Silvia Pozzi, Ilaria Rubino, and Giada Sebastiani, they are driving the chapter’s growth and future activities. ISSNAF is deeply grateful for the distinguished support of Ambassador Alessandro Cattaneo.

The Chapter’s establishment was officially announced in early December during an Artificial Intelligence event organized by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada and the Consulate General. On that occasion, the new Executive Committee also held its inaugural meeting.

Physicians & Surgeons Chapter

The Physicians & Surgeons —founded in early 2026—represents ISSNAF’s newest thematic initiative. Thanks to the leadership of Dr. Emanuele Orrù (Chair) and Dr. Carlo Maria Rosati (Co-Chair), the chapter aims to unite Italian physicians and surgeons working across the United States and Canada.

This community seeks to build a structured, professional network supporting the exchange of medical expertise, mentorship, and career opportunities. It also serves as a valuable resource for colleagues interested in pursuing medical careers within the North American healthcare system, reinforcing ISSNAF’s mission through sector-specific collaboration.
