Young ISSNAF is all about supporting ISSNAF members in the early career stage as well as Italian students and recent graduates with programs specifically tailored to their needs.
Programs for Early Career Members

The Young ISSNAF Mentoring Program for Early-Career Members focuses on career development. It connects mentees in all disciplines with experienced mentors in our network.

The Young ISSNAF Fellowships offer Italian researchers and technologists in the early career stage the outstanding opportunity to work at a research organization in North America.
Programs for Students

The Young ISSNAF Mentoring Program for Students offers career guidance to students enrolled in graduate or undergraduate programs at academic institutions in Italy and North America as well as to recent graduates. Mentees must be interested in study or work opportunities in North America, such as to further their studies, obtain an internship, or pursue a career at an academic or research institution.

The Young ISSNAF Internships give outstanding graduate students in Italy the opportunity to spend a training period at a North American organization.

This program is unique in its ability to match mentors and mentees with a common cultural identity and professional background and provide a rewarding experience for both.

2023 Mentoring Program for Early Career ISSNAF Members
This program focuses on career development and supports ISSNAF members at an early career stage in achieving their professional goals. Mentees are matched with experienced mentors in the ISSNAF community with the same cultural and professional background.
Mentees are mentored for a period of one year and interact with their Mentor at least once every two months, or as agreed upon with their mentor.
Requirements
To be considered, the applicant is required to:
1. Be an ISSNAF Member;
2. Pursue a career in North America;
3. Have earned their highest degree or completed the medical/veterinary residency in 2013 or later.
2023 Timeline
· Call for Applications is closed on October 31, 2022
· Applicants are notified of the outcome by December 19, 2022
· Mentoring starts on Jan 1, 2023

2023 Mentoring Program for Students

Mentors are ISSNAF members.

This program does not provide internships or work opportunities.
Requirements
To be considered, the applicant is required to:
1. Hold an Italian passport;
2. Be a graduate or undergraduate student or have graduated at an institution in Italy or North America in 2022.

· Mentoring starts on Jan 1, 2023

YOUNG ISSNAF FELLOWSHIPS

Fellowships
ISSNAF supports the professional growth of outstanding early career researchers in Italy.
ISSNAF coordinates with Italian and North American institutions to set up and manage research fellowships. Selected researchers will spend one or more years at a research institution in North America. These experiences benefit both visiting researchers and hosting institutions, professionally and culturally.
These fellowships are named after their generous sponsors.
