On 12-1-2022 EURAXESS North America and the George Washington University Institute for International Science and Technology Policy (IISTP) co-hosted the Eighth Annual Meeting of the European Scientific Diasporas in North America | EURAXESS (europa.eu). The event was held at the Elliott School of International Affairs.
The keynote speaker was Florent Bernard, Science Counselor at the European Union Delegation in Washington DC.
Dr. Gioia Rau, an astrophysicist at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, represented ISSNAF. The panel focused on how recent geopolitical challenges may complicate the movement of talent and knowledge, on how diasporas could be more effective in attracting and retaining talent in USA and Europe, and on how policy makers need to address the big challenges. ISSNAF was mentioned as an exemplary diaspora, with more than 3000 members.
