The Minnesota Chapter is proud to announce a special evening with Professor Maria Gini, awarded with the prestigious Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring.
Prof. Gini is among just 25 individuals nationwide to receive this distinguished recognition, the highest honor awarded to mentors in the fields of science and mathematics. The award underscores the essential role mentors play in shaping the next generation of technical leaders — scientists, engineers, explorers, and innovators.
Prof. Gini is a Distinguished Professor and Distinguished University Teaching Professor at the Computer Science and Engineering Department of the University of Minnesota. She is an internationally renowned researcher, educator, and mentor in computer science. Her pioneering contributions to robotics, artificial intelligence, and multi-agent systems have made her a leading figure in the field.
This special event also offers a chance to celebrate Italy’s research excellence in North America and to foster connections among Italian researchers, scientists, students, and cultural representatives living and working in Minnesota.

The evening will open with remarks from Mario Alberto Bartoli, the Italian Consul General in Chicago, and Professor Marcello Alecci, Science Attaché. A short Q&A session will follow her talk, and light refreshments will be served.
