Warmest congratulations to Prof. Alessandro Sette on becoming a Member of ISSNAF Board!
Prof. Alessandro Sette, with over 40 years of experience, has made significant contributions to the study of immune responses in cancer, autoimmunity, allergy, and infectious diseases. He has coauthored over 1000 publications, holds 41 US patents, and is recognized as one of the top 400 influential researchers globally. Sette has received numerous prestigious awards and is an elected member of several scientific academies.
His lab identifies immune system epitopes, studying a variety of diseases such as HIV, malaria, tuberculosis, and SARS-CoV-2. Notably, his team was the first to define adaptive immune responses to SARS-CoV-2, investigating immune memory and the impact of preexisting immune responses on vaccination. His lab also examines emerging threats like Avian Flu and MPOX.
Prof. Sette has been a vocal advocate for fact-based communication during the COVID-19 pandemic, with over 600 interviews in 100+ countries. His group’s epitope tools are widely used, and data is shared freely through the Immune Epitope Database (IEDB). Watch Prof. Sette previous #ISSNAFStories in our Members in Action.
