Dr. Guido Silvestri is a Georgia Research Alliance Eminent Scholar and the Chair of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Emory University. He has dedicated his career to AIDS research, leading NIH-funded studies on HIV pathogenesis and therapy using non-human primate models. In 2024, he became Vice President for Basic and Translational Research at Emory’s Woodruff Health Sciences Center, overseeing research funding exceeding $1 billion.
With 305 peer-reviewed publications and over 34,000 citations (H-index 91), Dr. Silvestri is recognized as a leading expert in his field. He has delivered more than 120 invited lectures globally and has played significant roles in various prestigious scientific journals and advisory committees. Notably, he co-directs the NIH-funded ERASE HIV initiative, which received a $25M grant to advance HIV research and eradication efforts.
