Prof. Alessandro Sette honored as Cavaliere dell’Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana.

At the 2025 Italian Research Day in Los Angeles, hosted by the Italian Culture Institute, Prof. Alessandro Sette was officially awarded the title of "Cavaliere dell'Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana", one of Italy’s highest civilian honors. The award was presented by the Consul General of Italy in Los Angeles, in recognition of Sette’s extraordinary contributions to biomedical science and global health.


Prof. Sette, a renowned immunologist and senior member of the La Jolla Institute for Immunology, has dedicated over 40 years to advancing our understanding of immune responses in infectious diseases, cancer, autoimmunity, and allergy. His work has shaped modern immunology and has had a lasting global impact—particularly in vaccine development and T cell research.


Prof. Sette also serves as a member of the ISSNAF Board and Scientific Council, reinforcing his leadership in fostering collaboration between Italian and North American scientific communities.


The honor was conferred during an event co-hosted with ISSNAF, as part of a global initiative by Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to celebrate Italian researchers abroad.
